POP Studio Academy is proud to have supported this edition of Ableton User Group Singapore, held at Enclave Bar, located in the now-defunct Golden Mile Complex.

For those who may not know, Golden Mile Complex bade its final farewell to the public in March 2023 following its en bloc sale. While the architecture and “signature terraced profile” will be “sensitively restored” because of heritage status, all of the small businesses, eating places, nightclubs, and other fascinating parts that make Golden Mile Complex unique and culturally exciting will be moving out to different places, marking the end of an era.

As a tribute to the heritage and culture of Golden Mile Complex, the February meetup of Ableton User Group Singapore involved participants transforming the various sounds found within the iconic landmark into pieces of music and experimental sonic works that can continue to evoke memories of Golden Mile Complex and its rich cultural history for many more years to come.

POP Studio Academy is proud to have supported this edition of Ableton User Group Singapore Gathering with special guest Claire Marie Lim (dolltr!ck) from New York!

Claire Marie Lim is a Singapore-born music technologist and educator, also active under her artist project dolltr!ck. She specializes in instruction for live electronic performance, production and programming, and is an advocate of women and Asian representation in music technology.
Â
Classically-trained as a pianist, flautist and composer, Claire slipped headfirst into the abyss of electronic music in college. She emerged from its depths as a DJ, remixer and live performance designer for numerous award-winning artists, including two-time Grammy nominees Alphabet Rockers, acclaimed keyboardist Rachel Z, My Brightest Diamond and Nona Hendryx of Labelle.

Hosted by our very own Ableton Certified Trainer, Ben Ang, this session saw participants learning how Claire creates and performs music in Ableton Live, all while learning cool tips and techniques in Ableton Live for use in their own projects, and meeting other people with the same interests in creating and performing electronic music.
